Spring 2012
Instructor: David Moore, PhD, LPCS
Assistant Instructor: Mardy Ireland, PhD
Course Description:
This 8 session seminar is for experienced psychoanalytic clinicians (and others with special background by permission of the instructors) who are interested in developing a greater understanding of Lacan, Green, and French psychoanalysis. We will explore their ideas and the ways in which they relate to the work of Winnicott.
We will focus on how Lacan, Green, and Winnicott frame a particular analytic space for thinking about and working with neurotic and borderline spectrum patients.

About the Instructors:
David Moore, PhD, LPCS is a graduate and certified analyst in private practice with his wife, Laurie Pahel MD: Chapel Hill Psychoanalytic Practice. He supervises psychiatry residents at UNC and Duke. His doctoral dissertation was on psychodynamic couple therapy, while his analytic graduate paper was on affect incorporating the work of Andre Green. He has a long standing interest in French psychoanalytic and philosophical thought (Derrida, Kristeva and Badiou). He is president of the NC Psychoanalytic Society and represents North Carolina on the Executive Council of the American Psychoanalytic Association. He is on the faculty of the Psychoanalytic Education Center of the Carolinas and co-chairs the Research Committee.
Mardy Ireland, PhD is a psychoanalyst and psychologist who has pursued the working dialectic between the British and French schools of psychoanalysis since the early 1990's. Drawing on this dialectic, she is the author of Reconceiving Women (1993), The Art of the Subject (2003), and a contributor to Between Winnicott and Lacan: A Clinical Engagement (2011). She has a clinical practice in Raleigh.
